Location Based Marketing
Location based marketing, or localised marketing, is about increasing your businesses visibility online in the geographical area(s) you operate, as well as managing your online reputation to attract new customers.
With the adoption of smart phones, combined with the ongoing growth of the internet and more people turning to it to find services and products, there are great opportunities to take advantage of for small businesses that serve a geographic area.
Users turn to the web to find local services and Google Places should be your first port of call. Anyone can leave a review about your business, positive or negative, on Google Places and other business listing websites. By ensuring your listings are kept up to date, you increase the chances of being found, and there is also an opportunity to view your online reputation from reviews customers may leave about you. If you’re good at what you do, and customers are aware that they can leave good reviews about you online, you’re more likely to attract new customers.
Here are some free tips for optimising your Google Places listing:
1. If your listing already exists and
you're the business owner, make sure you verify your Google Places
listing.
2. Provide as much information as possible on your listing. The more complete, the better optimised. This includes adding images and providing comprehensive details of what services you offer.
3. Encourage reviews from your
customers. This is invaluable.
